A point of sale your shop owns
FreedomShop rings up sales at the register, takes returns, holds layaways and special orders, and keeps track of what's on the shelf. It writes purchase orders, receives the truck, prints price tags, and runs the reports you check at closing.
You install it once, on a server in the back office, like any other program. Each register computer in the store signs in to it, and each person gets their own login. There's no monthly fee per register, and your sales history stays on your own server.
Who we had in mind
An independent shop with a few registers and a back office: a furniture store, a hardware store, a garden center, a gift shop. The owner wants to know what sold today, what's on order, and what's still sitting in the warehouse, without paying a subscription for every register.
If your shop ran QuickBooks Point of Sale, much of this will feel familiar (coming from QuickBooks Point of Sale). Sales receipts, sales orders with deposits, purchase orders and receiving vouchers each have their own screen, and the reports at closing are the ones you're used to.
What it does
- Sales at the register, with cash, check, card and gift certificate tenders
- Returns and exchanges
- Layaways and special orders: take a deposit, hold the items, and record payments until pickup
- Held receipts you can come back to
- Customer accounts and charge accounts
- Purchase orders, receiving vouchers and reorder lists
- Items, departments and vendors, with on-hand, held and available counts
- Sales tax by location, with your own rates and exemptions
- Price tags and labels
- Daily totals, sales tax, general sales, sales by vendor, inventory on hand and customer balances
- A login for each person who works the register
Works with FreedomBooks
FreedomShop is the sister project of FreedomBooks, free accounting for small businesses. Sending each day's sales from FreedomShop to FreedomBooks is planned, so the register and the books agree without typing the totals in twice.
